![]() Maybe we'll do our own sync of our audio commentary with a video file of the film. ![]() In terms of instructions for watching along with us, we kind of fucked up the count-in here, but it should be easy enough to get in sync with Tom and I when you bear in mind that we're watching this precise copy of the film on YouTube - although we do have a sort of built in piss break halfway through the commentary where we pause the film, so don't leave your copy playing during that bit! Writing this all out, this is more complicated than I thought. THE WEEKLY ROAST AND TOAST - Bad Movie Roast for Neil Breen's 'Fateful Findings'. His 2013 film FATEFUL FINDINGS is a strikingly strange piece of work, spanning Lynchian horror, family (melo)drama and high-stakes political thriller in its inability to settle on a genre. His childhood 'finding' gives him amazing paranormal powers. He grows up to be a computer scientist who is hacking into the most secret national and international secrets, as well as being an acclaimed novel writer. He is then separated from his childhood girlfriend. This week on Double Edged Double Bill, Adam and Thomas are looking at two very odd movies with very low budgets. In this one, Tom introduces me to the work of outsider artist Neil Breen, a distinctly Wiseauean writer/director/star/inventor of fake companies with which to credit himself pseudonymously for odd jobs on his own films. A small boy discovers a mystical power as a child. Fateful Findings features horrible acting, ludicrous dialogue, and horrible acting. Recorded later the same night as our commentary for Clint Eastwood's FIREFOX (which is why Tom briefly falls asleep towards the end) we present the second in what will likely be - for now - a trilogy of RP audio commentaries for "classic" (of whatever esoteric interest to us) films. ![]() It’s truly an impeccable CV, and the sheer effort alone is worthy of praise. As a filmmaker, Breen is arguably one who’s genuinely independent: on Fateful Findings alone, Breen is director, actor, writer, editor, producer, casting director, production designer, sound manager, and makeup artist. Breen self-admittedly sets out to portray the every day mystery in the world around us.
